JEAN BARIN: THE WHITE MOUNTAINS IN THE WESTERN CAPE

The Western Cape region is one of the nine provinces of South Africa . The capital is Cape Town. The province has an area of approximately 129,390 meters and forms the southernmost part of the African continent. In the west it borders the Atlantic Ocean and the the southern side on the Indian Ocean. The Western Cape is an important centre for: trade, industry, agriculture and the production of wine . Behind Cape Town begins the Cape Winelands, an area where very good wines come from. The landscape is vast and dotted with orchards and wine estates. Some well-known places such as Paarl, Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Robertson, are now very well-known because of the large share of quality wine that comes from there. You can visit the various wine farms that produce excellent wines.

BENGUELA

The soil consists of sand, clay and limestone. The climate is generally mild with warm summers and cool winters. Rainfall varies considerably in this province. In the area around Cape Town, a lot of rain falls in the winter, while in the south it rains all year round. In the winter, there is a fair amount of rain, caused by the westerly winds. The Antarctic Benguela current cools these winds from the sea.
