Weingut Grenzhof-Fiedler , is located on the edge of Mörbisch 500 meters from the Hungarian border in Austria. Gerhard, Elfi and Bernhard Fiedler manage about 10 hectares of vineyard in the area, located eastwards towards Lake Neusiedl .
Through a common inheritance, the vineyards are spread over 30 individual vineyards in different parts of Mörbisch. This makes it possible to plant a variety of grape varieties; Fiedler's estate covers approximately 50% white grape varieties, including Grüner Veltliner, Muscat Ottonel, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Traminer , and 50% red grape varieties including Gamay, Zweigelt and Cabernet Sauvignon . Fiedler cultivates its vineyards with great care, according to the guidelines of ecological viticulture, in order to achieve vibrant sustainable viticulture. The harvest is done entirely by hand, all unsuitable grapes are manually removed from the harvest. The manual work does not stop there, the ripeness of the grapes is manually checked every day so that the right moment of picking can be determined. Whether white, red or noble sweet, all wines have a unique character depending on the grape variety, vintage, microclimate and region . They are characterised by sustainability, digestibility and gastronomic versatility.
In Burgenland, literally translated as ' the land of castles' , which lies just below Vienna, the NeusiedIersee creates an ideal microclimate for wine growing. The vineyards on the marshy soils around the lake offer good conditions for the noble rot of the grapes. The dry white wines from Burgenland are fresh and lively, the red wines elegant and fruity. Burgenland can be divided into four sub-regions:
> Neusiedlersee: This area lies between the shores of the lake and the Hungarian border . The 9,100 hectares of wine produce both fresh white wines and powerful red wines. Especially the Zweigelt is starting to build a reputation of its own. Of course, we must not forget the great sweet wines from Neusiedlersee.
> Leithaberg: On the foothills of the Leithaberg mountain range , west of the lake, lies Neusiedlersee-Hügelland, where the real Austrian all-rounders in the wine field are located. In Neusiedlersee-Hügelland, young winemakers combine innovation with respect for centuries-old traditions . No other wine region in the country is home to as many different types of wine and grapes as this 4,150-hectare wine region.
> Mittelburgenland; an area with no less than 2100 hectares of wine growing area. Here everything revolves around one grape: Blaufränkisch .
'
> Last but not least: Südburgenland is an area that has a lot to offer. The region has only 500 hectares of vineyards, but the vast majority is planted in one place: the Eisenberg . Blaufränkisch in particular gives a very unique spicy and mineral style. In addition, Südburgenland produces fresh, white wines.
The Zweigelt is the most important blue grape of Austria. It is a cross between the Blaufränkisch and the St. Laurent . This grape was developed by professor Fritz Zweigelt , hence the name. This scholar also developed the Blauburger ; a cross between the Portugieser and Blaufränkisch.
Of course, we at Dare Wines have included the entire Fiedler line in our assortment. From a classic Grüner Veltliner to a region-specific Blaufränkisch. We also have the noble sweet Beerenauslese, made from overripe grapes . Taste these sought-after top sellers soon. They are very popular.
